SENIOR MEN
We were looking to back up from our Round 1 victory with another good showing against East Burwood at home.

We started well. Our ball movement was good and we were winning the contest inside and out. Which was a focus for us during the week. East Burwood were looking to come through the corridor so we had to make some adjustments at quarter time. We were 10pts up.

The second quarter we started slowly as East Burwood brought pressure to the contest, which forced us to turn the footy over. As the quarter went along, we started to find our rhythm as we lifted our efforts around the contest and got the footy moving the way we wanted. We went to the half 29pts up.

The third quarter was like a mirror image to the second as we started slowly again. We then got everything going again. We were 38pts up at the last change.

The last quarter we played ok in patches. We just couldn’t put East Burwood away when we had our opportunities.

We finished 32pts up at the final siren.

Go Redbacks!

NETBALL
Round one kicked off last Friday for our red and black teams. Both teams have many new players so we were keen to try out new combinations.

The red team played their first game against the Heathmont blue team. Starting off the week with nine players, unfortunately just before the game started, they ended up playing with six the entire game. The girls started off the game very strong and fierce. They trailed the first three quarters by only two points keeping up with the fresh legs of the Heathmont team. Unfortunately, fatigue set in and the girls couldn’t overcome the jets and ended up losing the match by ten goals. Kiara Jackson had the highest scoring of the game with 14 for the Redbacks. The whole team will be back next week for round two versus the Knox Falcons.

The black team played their first game against Bayswater green. This whole team consists of all new girls that have joined Ringwood. They too played with six payers due to illness and other commitments. There is a wide range of skills in this team and boy did it show. The girls started off at quarter time with a 13 goal lead and it only got better from there. The team who has never played before gelled so well and won the game by an outstanding 33 points. The main goalers for the game were Sophie Haddock (17) and Madie Smith (18), they worked so well together you’d think they have been playing together for years. We know this team will only get better from here and we cannot wait.

The white team kicks off their season this Friday at 8.35pm against Nunawading. The girls just completed a tournament and are looking very strong as a whole and are very keen to take the court Friday.

Come down and support any one of our teams, the girls would love a cheer squad!

Go Redbacks!!
