March Club Update

March Club Update

With only a few weeks until the season begins, we’re excited to welcome everyone back to the club for another great season!

With a very big off season so far, here’s an update on what’s happening at the club at the moment.

ROUND ONE

With less than a month until round one, footy is almost back and we can’t wait to have all our supporters back at Jubilee on April 1st to kick off the season in style as we host Knox in a night game. With no other night games that round, we expect a very big crowd! Make sure that you get in early and get your spot so you don’t miss out on the action.

After the game the rooms will be open with the bar running until midnight and a live band playing – there is no charge to come in the rooms afterwards, so come in and enjoy what will be a great night!

PRACTICE MATCHES & TEAM

Our practice matches for our senior men are on Saturday March 18 and Saturday March 25 against Upwey-Tecoma and then Mitcham.

Our senior women’s team will have a practice match against Upwey-Tecoma on Saturday March 25. Further details for both games are on our Facebook page.

Keep an eye on our junior Facebook page for details of their upcoming practice matches.

All supporters are welcomed and encouraged to attend practice matches and support our teams.

As we head into the season we have welcomed several new young players to the team. They will inject pace into our senior squad and will give us a newer looking team in 2023. With our experienced players, coupled with some young new recruits, we’re excited to see the team in action this season.

The addition of several new players has also meant that the depth of our reserves has been the strongest that it has been in years. Thanks to the hard work of new reserves coach Adam Waugh, our reserves have a strong and long list in 2023 – so expect a strong return to finals for our reserves this season.

We unveiled our new leadership group for 2023 recently, with Jimmy Parker and Mitch Jackson announced as co-captains. They will be supported by Declan Hill as Vice-Captain and Steven Brown as Deputy Vice-Captain. This strong leadership group will follow up from our previous leadership group led by Nathan Cairns who have steered us so well for many years and have set such a great club culture.

SPONSORS

We are lucky to have such incredible and generous sponsors at our club that continue to help us build the club and make it the strong outfit that we are. However, we need to make sure that we support our sponsors as much as we can. So make sure that you check out the list of our sponsors and support them when you can.

Make sure that you mention you are from the Ringwood Football & Netball Club and our great sponsors will look after you.

JUNIORS

We are excited to confirm that we will be fielding an under 16s team in 2023. This will add another junior team to our club as we continue a strong rebuild of our juniors that will now see us have a junior team in the majority of age groups from under 16s down to under 8s.

Thanks to the hard work of Vice-President Trent Bartholomew and new coach Brad Aujurd, this team will be an A division team this season, and we expect them to be challenging for finals as one of the best under 16s in the league.

We also had our under 14s co-captains Blade Platt and Josh Buratti who this week participated in the under 14s interleague competition as two of the best under 14s players in the league. Both are fantastic players, but also fantastic young leaders within our club and it’s exciting to see them get the recognition that they deserve.

Make sure that you get down to watch all of junior teams as they play this season and support our juniors.

Our junior committee, led by Laura Simkin, continue to do an incredible job to get the season up and running.

SEASON LAUNCH

Our season launch will be on Saturday March 25th at the Ringwood RSL from 6:30pm.

We invite all supporters to come down and help us launch our 2023 campaign! There will be merchandise available for purchase and membership cards available for pick up and purchase.

You can meet the new players from our netball and football teams, as well as hearing from our coaches about what is on for the year ahead.

We will also be welcoming two new life members, Luke Way and Tim Burmeister. Both Luke and Tim will be awarded life membership under the newly adopted ‘200 game’ requirement. Once a player plays 200 senior or reserves games, they will be inducted as a life member of the Ringwood Football & Netball Club.

Finger food will be provided and drinks will be available at bar price.

INDOOR TRAINING CENTRE & CARPARK WORKS

Construction of the new indoor training facility at the club is almost complete now. Construction is completed for April, with final fit-out completed in May.

Council will also be sealing our gravel carpark next to our new rooms to further improve the facilities. This work is currently in late design and will commence in July-August. While this is a great outcome and is something that we have been advocating for, it will have disruptions to parking during the early part of the season. Once council provide more information, we will keep you updated.

SOCIAL FUNCTION

Our first social function for 2023 will be on Saturday April 15th at 7pm at the club. It is a silent disco that is being organised by our social committee made up of members of our playing group.

All supporters are encouraged to attend. You can find details for the event here:

SENIOR WOMENS

Our senior women’s team are currently getting ready for the season ahead and are looking for additional players to join the team. With a strong performance in Division 1 last season that saw the team narrowly miss finals, we are looking forward to another strong season in 2023. If you are looking to play women’s footy at Ringwood, reach out to Abbey or Mark.

With only a few weeks until round one, we couldn't be more excited to see all our members and fans again to kick off the season strong. So make sure you are at our first home game under lights.
