Our juniors and netball teams are both kicking off their season this week so good luck to all! Our senior women’s team will be starting their season on April 20th
Big things to come with our Past Players Day celebrating 10 years since the iconic U19s GF win, and Steven Brown’s 150th game it is sure to be a fun start to the season.
Here’s an update on what’s happening at the club at the moment.

This Saturday we are hosting our first home game of 2024! We will be taking on East Burwood, and after our amazing round one efforts, we expect this to be another great clash! Make sure you get down to Jubilee to support our seniors and reserves for what is sure to be a huge day!

Thanks to everyone who attended our first player function of 2024! It was great to see all players come together and celebrate.
The social committee did an amazing job working together to create a successful night. Also, a big shout out to Jacko for his attendance and ensuring the night ran smoothly.

We are starting the season with a bang at Jubilee this year, by hosting our past
players & officials day on our first home game against East Burwood from 12 – 4pm,
with the rooms open all night with a band afterwards, starting at 6pm.
We’ll be celebrating the 2014 Under 19s Premiership, as well as awarding club champion John "Impy" McKenzie life membership.
Hear from the following people on the day:
12:30pm - Awarding of life membership to John "Impy" McKenzie by Paul Gough

This year we are hosting the traditional ANZAC clash between Ringwood & Heathmont and we expect it to be a massive night! With a crowd of more than 3000 expected, make sure that you join us for one of the best nights of local footy! With no other night games that round, it will be the only place to be to watch local footy.
Make sure that you get in early and get your spot so you don’t miss out on the
action. Our seniors start at 7pm, while we are also looking to host an under 17.5s
game prior to the seniors at 5:30pm – this is not yet confirmed though, so keep an
eye on our social media for updates.
After the game the rooms will be open with the bar running until midnight and a live
band playing – there is no charge to come in the rooms afterwards, so come in and
enjoy what will be a great night!

We headed out to Templestowe to start our season off.

We were looking to start well and bring our pressure to the contest and to get our game style going.

The first quarter was very even as we tried to shake off some early nerves. Which showed with our ball handling during the quarter.

The second quarter we started to get our game going. We were able to apply good pressure around the contest and force turnovers which allowed us to get some good entries into our forward 50. We went into half time 16pts up.

We started the second half well kicking the first couple to get out to a nice lead. As the quarter went we started to make some fundamental mistakes which gave Templestowe a chance going into the last quarter.

The last quarter we showed some real character as we continued to keep applying our pressure and working really hard in and around the contest. Our leaders stood up when we were challenged and we were able to win the game by 15pts.

Go Redbacks!

After a good preseason and a new look team we went into round 1 in good shape. After just missing finals last year it was important to get off to a good start. We headed to Templestowe to take on last year’s runners up in what was going to be a good test.

We welcomed five new players to the team in Jayger Hanlon- Davis, Daniel Yon, Dylan Archer, Tom Falzon and Jack Williams all in for their first game in the redbacks jumper.

We went into the game knowing we needed to get off to a good start and if we played our way there was a real belief we could get the job done. We started well with our tackle pressure not allowing Templestowe to play there game, which allowed us to force them to turn it over and keep it lock in our front half for most of the first quarter. Although we didn’t make the most of our opportunities kicking 1.5 for quarter, we were able to keep Templestowe Goal less for the quarter going into the first change with a 10-point lead.
The second quarter was for us about keeping the pressure on Templestowe and maintain our lead which we did. Kicking 3 goals to their 2 extending our lead and going into the main break with a 17-point lead.

The challenge for us in the second half was not to drop off on our pressure around the ground and run the game out. With a very even contest in the second half, the promising sign for us every time Templestowe came at us we were able to respond and maintain our 2-3 goal lead for most of the 3rd & 4th quarters before a late scare in the final few minutes allowing Templestowe 2 late goals bringing the margin back to 4 points, despite our backline being under pressure in the dying minutes we were able to hold and get the much deserved win by 4-points.

Next week we head back to Jubilee to try and go 2-0 against last years premiers in East Burwood.

Best players : Shaun Lucas, Mitch Annett, Lachie Stewart, Jacob Broad and Noah Adkins.
