The seniors will be looking to back up from their big 51 point win over the second placed Templestowe. While our reserves will look to bounce back after going down by 2 goals to equal top of the ladder Templestowe. Our senior womens team will travel out to Beaconsfield this Saturday in what will be a great clash.

With a big crowd expected this Friday night, make sure that you get down early to get prime position for the game. The social rooms will be open from 5pm.

We will be stretched for volunteers, so if you are able to help on the night, please contact Grant Gibson on 0419 408 975. Any help that you can give, even if only for an hour, will be greatly appreciated!

We will have live music after the senior game, along with a $500 cash draw for Gold and Platinum members at half time of the seniors.

TERRY ‘DUCK’ DUCAT

On Friday June 23rd, the club lost one of our greatest supporters. Terry 'Duck' Ducat passed away from head injuries sustained earlier this year.

Duck was a club sponsor for over 30 years and was a beloved figure by so many within our club.

Playing a crucial role in the formation of our netball teams through his sponsorship of the dresses, Duck loved giving back to the community in any way that he could.

You would often find him near the club bar chatting to anyone around and sharing a great story or two as he made those around him laugh.

In 2021, Duck was honoured as our number one ticket holder for his great contribution to the club.

Duck was also a longtime sponsor of the Heathmont Football Netball Club and had a famous 'Ringmont' jersey made that was half Ringwood and half Heathmont. So it is fitting that we are able to honour him this Friday night as we take on the Heathmont Football Club.

Before the game at 6:45pm on Friday night, we will be inviting all supporters to join our players and form a circle in the centre of the ground to participate in one minute of silence in honour of Duck. The game will commence at 7pm after this.

Funeral arrangements for Duck will be shared once they are confirmed.

Please come down and have a beer for Duck on Friday night and cheer on both teams in a local derby that he loved watching so much.

SENIOR MEN
After the disappointment from our loss to Knox, we were looking for a response from the playing group.

We needed to start well and show we were ready to make amends.

Although we were kicking into the breeze, we were able to defend as a team really well. Our defenders were able to cut off their forward 50 entries. This was due to our pressure up the ground. When we were able to force the turnover we took advantage and we’re able to control our ball movement the way we wanted to into the breeze. At the first break we were 2 points down.

Our pressure and intent around the contest was making things difficult for Templestowe as we continued to force turnovers and get the ball into our forward 50. Our back six were doing a great job as we kept them scoreless for the quarter as we added 3 goals to go 17points up at halftime.

The challenge for us in the third quarter was being able to restrict Templestowe scoring with the breeze. We were able to hold them to One goal while we kicked two. All off the back of our team pressure across the ground and being able to control the play when we had the footy. We went to the last break 21 points up.

The last quarter was really pleasing as we continued to apply our pressure and not allow it to drop off. While we didn’t take full toll of our forward entries kicking 4 goals 7. It was still a fantastic quarter and win.  When the siren sounded we were 51 points up.

This win was a real team effort. Keeping Templestowe to 1 goal 3 in the second half was a fantastic effort, especially as we ended up with only one on the bench by the end of the game.

Next we take on Heathmont on Friday night at Jubilee.

NETBALL

The White team had a bye for round 11 this week. Keen to get back on the court after the school holidays to climb that ladder.

The Black team played against Waverley Blues who sit on top of the ladder. The girls played such an amazing game considering they only had six girls take the court the whole time. At the quarter time break they only trailed by one goal. The continued to compete and were trailing by three heading into half time. The girls were very fatigued after the first half with no subs but they never gave up and came out after half time and took it right up to the ladder leaders resulting in only being down by one at three quarter time. Unfortunately, they ran out of breath in the last quarter after playing such amazing netball and eventually went down by only 8 goals. Such an amazing game by the black team only having half of their team.

Red played against Nunawading lions who currently are 4th on the ladder. The girls had a really tough week with illnesses and very late outs struggling to get a team together. They ended up getting seven players on the court and played a full game. The girls didn’t have a great game but never gave up. They only scored 4 goals the whole game but still held Nunawading down as best they could. We all have a break this week but the red team are very keen to train hard and get back on the court after school holidays.
