SENIOR MEN
We set about challenging ourselves to get back to back wins for the first time in a while.

We started well as we kicked the first three goals. Our ball movement was good and our pressure around the contest was where it needed to be. The Basin got some control back late in the quarter and we went into quarter time 3 points up.

The second quarter was similar. We started well, as we were winning the footy around the contest. Our execution into our forward 50 and conversion was not where it should be, as we kicked  2 goals 5. It was 8 points at halftime.

Our third quarter, while not high scoring was a good defensive performance. We were able to keep applying pressure around the contest and keep The Basin to two scoring shots.

We finished off the game well, which was pleasing as we took the game away from The Basin to run out 22 point winners.

We take on Mulgrave next weekend, in what is a mini final for us.

NETBALL
White played against Lilydale one Friday night. White needed this win to make finals however unfortunately that didn’t happen. The girls only had three original players from their team available to play and had to find four fill ins very late in the week. The girls tried very hard to keep up with Lilydale keeping it to around 5 points for most of the game but unfortunately, due to certain circumstances Lilydale shot away winning by a larger margin crushing Whites finals hopes. Only a few weeks left for the season now and hopefully they will get a few more wins on the board.

Red played against second on the ladder South Belgrave. A strong start from the red team to be only trailing by four at the quarter time break. The last couple of games the girls have struggled to make double digits, this game against a tough side they managed to score 25 goals. Kiara Jackson with 15 goals to her name and her sister Indi Jackson with 9. The girls played an incredible game, they did end up losing but it was a massive achievement for them to score so many and see them starting to gel as a team. It was only a 12-point loss and they are hoping to come back this week and get a win.

The black team unfortunately didn’t have enough players to play on Friday, so they had to forfeit.

REDBACKS AUSKICK
After a fantastic season, Ringwood Auskick will host our Annual Presentation Night at the Jubilee clubrooms this Friday night.  It promises to be a great event with a longest kick competition, kids v parent relay races, raffles and giveaways. Followed by the much anticipated medal presentation for all our amazing Auskickers.
Taking the lead this year has been Sarah, Liv, Brad and Ash who have done a fabulous job coaching our youngsters. Thank you to all the mums and dads who step up to help every week, assisting on the bbq or joining in the fun on the field.

Commencing late April, the average attendance throughout our 10 weekly sessions has remained high with great support from family and friends. It has been great to watch their footy skills develop as they create new friends with their teammates. A recent highlight being Juniors Day where Auskickers joined in the half-time grid game and took to the field with our Senior players.

The EFNL competition series has now commenced for U8s Girls Only and U7s Mixed teams. These are small sided grid games that help prepare our older Auskickers for the transfer into Junior Football. Our sponsor Choklits Child Care has generously provided all Ringwood Auskick Competition participants with free Ringwood training tops, which will be presented to our future superstars this Friday night. Good luck to all our participants, looking forward to seeing our next generation of Redbacks in action!

In more exciting news, to align with the commencement of the AFLW season, Jubilee Park will play host to a Girls Only 6 week program from July 31st. The Hawthorn FC Ringwood All Girls Auskick Centre is in partnership with the Hawthorn Football Club and will be supported with player appearances, giveaways and promotion with the AFL. Sessions will be held on Mondays 4.30-5.30pm. Registrations for girls aged 5-12 are open now at play.afl
