PRESIDENTS UPDATE -

Firstly a Happy New Year to all of you. I trust you had an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas and New Year. I wanted to take this opportunity to let you all know a couple of significant pieces of club news.

Firstly in relation to our playing jumper for 2018 and beyond. You would be aware that in 2017 the Ringwood Football Club played in a special commemorative jumper that celebrated our 120th year. This jumper was the traditional club jumper with a predominately black jumper and a white yoke that the club played in for decades up until the early 2000’s. Since being elected President I have conducted an extensive consultation process with our players, coaches, committee, sponsors, members, etc on what our jumper should look like for 2018 and beyond. The overwhelming choice was the jumper you see as part of this update. It is similar to last years commemorative jumper with the following changes :

- Removal of the RFC motif on the front of the jumper - Removal of the ‘1897 – 2017, 120 years’ message on the front of the jumper - The RFC on the back neck of the jumper changes from white to red to reflect our nickname ‘The Redbacks’

The clubs committee unanimously approved this jumper at our meeting last Monday night and it has now been submitted to the EFL seeking approval at their next board meeting.

Secondly I recently met with Maroondah council seeking an update on the Jubilee Park redevelopment and to discuss alternative arrangements for training and our Home games until we are back on Jubilee Park. The council is planning on laying the grass in mid to late February after which the absolute best case scenario is 3 months which would take us to the end of May. We are in the lap of the goods as any adverse weather or other factors will push this timing back. In the meantime the following arrangements will apply :

- From Monday February 5 all training sessions will take place at Fred Gaele Oval, Norton Road, Croydon. The ground can be accessed via Norton Road or via Civic Square which is at the set of lights at the Arndale Shopping Centre, Mount Dandenong Road, Croydon (opposite the Croydon Football Ground).

- From Tuesday April 3 the likely arrangements at this stage are that we will train at Fred Gaele on Tuesday nights and at our Junior oval (Jubilee 2 Oval) at Ringwood on Thursday nights.  Until we are back on Jubilee Park all Home Games will be held at Fred Gaele Oval.

Obviously this disruption will cause some challenges but I am confident with our fantastic volunteers and helpers that it will be kept to a minimum. Once the redevelopment is complete we are going to be left playing on one of the showpiece grounds in the Eastern suburbs so this short term pain is certainly worth it.

Training resumes at Greenwood Reserve this Monday night. If anyone has any queries I will be at Greenwood on Monday night otherwise you can contact myself or any other committee member directly.
